SHOUT: an anti-crime success

The anti-crime initiative founded by musicians Danny K and Kabelo Mabalane, the SHOUT Foundation, which recorded the Tears for Fears hit ‘Shout’ with a host of SA’s musical talent, has received major public support.

Within weeks of its launch, the single reached no.1 on the Highveld Stereo and KFM Top 40 SA music charts, cellphone downloads exceeded all previous SA records, about 128 000 fans pledged their support on Facebook and YouTube clocked more than 50 000 video views.

SHOUT donated R50 000 to Matla a Bana, a crime focused NPO, and Garmin GPS devices to the SAPS.

Danny K and Mabalane say they plan to sustain the campaign. ‘We’re delighted that we’re now able to start making a tangible difference in creating a safer South Africa,’ they said.

Get your SHOUT CD single at Pick n Pay stores for R19,99 or SMS 33335 to donate R20 and also get the SHOUT track.
