What should I use on my face this winter because it is always dry - Sibulele Chwayita Ngcuka Ndwanyaza

The reason your skin gets dry in winter is because there is less moisture in the air. I would recommend using a rich moisturiser. Try using the Innoxa SkinMoist Day Cream and Night Treatment, R149,95. It's a fantastic multi-tasking, budget option and is available at any retail pharmacy such as Clicks or Dis-Chem. What is the best product for thick hair? My hair is so thick I can hardly wear it down, it's just unmanageable. - Hazel Jeffery

For a product recommendation, I would suggest L'Oreal Professionnel's Mythic Oil. It's fabulous for taming frizzy, thick hair. If you would like a more long-term option, I recommend having the in-salon Kerastraight Treatment.

What the Kerastraight Treatment does:

  • Conditions and softens the hair whilst boosting shine and manageability.
  • The more damaged your hair the better the result as it equalizes the porosity of the hair.
  • Gives those with curly, thick hair the ability to blow-dry their own hair with ease.

You can read all about it in our latest issue, (May 2012) which has a 22 page section devoted purely to hair! Stockist details for Kerastraight are the following: Prana Head office (011) 463 9912 or visit www.pranaproducts.co.za. Treatment prices range from R1500 – R3500 depending on hair length, thickness and salon.

What is a good, but affordable product to cover pigmentation? How do I apply it so that it covers without being obvious? - Sally Hetherington

A great product for pigmentation would be Coverderm Classic, R355 (available at Dis-Chem stores). It is hypoallergenic, does not clog the skin or pores and has a 30 SPF. For an even coverage, it is important to invest in a good foundation brush. Estée Lauder has a fantastic one and it retails at R475. If you are looking to spend more, you can visit your closest Clinique counter and chat to a consultant. They would undoubtedly recommend the Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector (R520) and the Clinique Even Better Makeup SPF 15 (R320), also known as the "High Powered Couple".
