1. MoisturisingEstee Lauder Perfectly Clean light lotion cleanser, 200ml R295 The soft, luxurious texture glides onto skin and leaves the face, neck and décolletage feeling clean without being scrubbed raw or robbed of natural moisture. In fact there seemed to be a residual effect: after cleansing and rinsing, my skin felt supple even before applying moisturiser, which is particularly good in winter. make-up removal was good, but I still went over my eyes with eye make-up remover to avoid the morning-after raccoon effect. 2. GentleWoolworths Soothing Cleansing Milk for sensitive skin 150ml R89,95 This soothing milk was lovely and gentle, and didn’t irritate my skin at all. I did have to apply two rounds, though, to get all my make-up off – but I did not find that unusual. It does not dry out the skin. my skin retained a soft, moisturised feel even after I'd applied toner. Tester: Louwra Marais |

3. Light & creamyNivea Visage Q10 Plus Anti-wrinkle cleansing lotion 200ml R79,99 I am normally a fan of soapy, lathering cleansers, but I really enjoyed using this cleansing lotion from Nivea. It is light and creamy with a delicate fragrance. You simply apply it with your fingertips and gently massage into your skin. There’s no need even to wash it off – just wipe off any excess with cotton wool or a tissue. I found it left my skin softly moisturised – without being greasy or too dry – and well cleansed. 4. For dry skinDr Hauschka cleansing milk 145ml R395 This creamy cleanser gently and effectively removed my make-up, leaving my skin feeling nourished and clean. Only a small amount of product is required – a little really does go a long way. I liked the subtle fragrance, which was slightly herby. I found that my skin type (normal) didn’t require any moisturiser after I used this cleanser. I think it is best suited to dry, very dry and sensitive skin types – but it would be far too rich for those with oily skin. The glass packaging is very luxurious and a good choice for the eco-aware person, but you’d need to decant the product into another container before travelling with it. Tester: Candice-Lee |

5. PurifyingEucerin Dermatoclean refreshing cleansing gel for normal to combination skin 200ml R99,99 If you're looking for a cleanser that is gentle on your skin but gives a thorough result, look no further! After I'd massaged my face with the cleansing gel, the product created a slight foam and worked beautifully to remove impurities from my skin with ease. The clean and subtle scent was appropriate for my skin’s condition: utterly refreshed and ready to be moisturised. Suitable for normal, combination and sensitive skins. Tester: Kelli Clifton |

6. Non-oilyOrganix Elixir hydrating cleanser 200ml R175 I don’t usually use cleansers – I associate them with old ladies with purple hair and large glass jars full of cotton balls on their dresser (my grandmother is probably to blame for this). Also, the ones I’d tried in the past were usually quite goopy, and left an oily residue. elixir’s aromatherapy-based cleansing lotion does the job – it effectively removes make-up – but what I liked most was that I could rinse it off with water and there was no oily residue. my skin just felt clean. I also liked that the product only has six ingredients, as the fewer ingredients a product has the more likely it is to be pure and natural. Tester: Robyn MacLarty |

7. Everyday easyNeutrogena extra gentle cleanser 200ml R79,95 This is definitely the gentlest cleanser I have used so far: it left my skin cleansed and feeling product-free. I did have to apply the product more than once for a thorough clean, but this required little product and was still extremely gentle. Using it every day, I found the process quick and easy, and my skin felt soft, supple and less dry. For me, this gentle soap-free product is an all-round winner. Hi I love the fact that you are testing a varied range of products but i dont see any real factual information to aid me as a consumer. It would be far more beneficial to have a panel of experts in this type of field judge a variety of products. Using a cleanser a couple of times really tells you nothing unless it is extremely poor quality. I would so value the opinion of people qualified to evaluate different beauty products. thanks for providing this forum. Jacquivivona
Im not a big fan of creamy cleansers its got to be foamy for me to feel clean
