A Morning With Maxime
We had the pleasure of having an intimate talk with Guerlain’s international make-up artist, Maxime Poulin.
Yesterday, Cape Town Beauty Editors had the pleasure of meeting with international make-up artist for Guerlain, Maxime Poulin. We learned that he started out as a model (that explains his gorgeous-ness) and while in New York, discovered a new found love for make-up and began assisting in it.
He won the Canadian Makeup Artist of the Year in 2010 and has been travelling solidly for the past 11 months. This was his second time in South Africa.

Some tips & trends from Maxime:- 'One of the biggest trends right now is a bold lip. We’re seeing it everywhere; on the cat walk, on the streets. You cannot go wrong with bright lipstick. It’s the perfect accessory to glam up a dull outfit.' - 'If you’re tired, wear red lipstick. A red lip will never be considered too much or too over the top. It is like high heels for the face.' (Love this!) - 'When you wear a bold lip, keep the rest of your makeup clean and simple. Add some mascara and eyeliner, define your brows with an eyebrow pencil and you’re good to go.' - 'Always remember to wear lip liner. It adds more definition to the lip.' |
- 'Everyone can wear any lip colour! Even orange and purple.'
- 'As a subtle touch, wear bright mascara when wearing a bold lip. It adds a hint of colour to your eyes and frames them too.'
- 'Before using eyeshadow, always apply some primer to your lids. This makes the powder stick more and defines the colour.'
