Beauty Assistant, Kelli, is smitten with the Guinot facial at Petticoat Parlour.

Guinot Facial at Petticoat Parlour

I have been waiting for ages to visit the gorgeous day salon, Petticoat Parlour. I’d heard rave reviews from my colleagues and was so excited to finally pop past and experience the Guinot Hydradermie Double Ionisation Facial.

Greeted by gorgeous owner Wendy, I was ushered into one of the beautiful treatment rooms which were impeccably decorated in a fifties style theme. My therapist, Natalie was absolutely exceptional. She answered my millions of questions (which I always ask during treatments) and explained each step of my treatment.

What makes this facial particularly effective is the deep cleansing and penetration of active ingredients due to electrotherapy (machines using a mild form of electricity to ensure that the active ingredients of the products penetrate the skin properly and rid the skin of toxins). It was an odd feeling at first but I soon got used to it. The electric device was like a metal wand with metal balls on the end.

After examining my skin under a light and a few extractions, Natalie was quite impressed. There were only a few broken capillaries (I do enjoy my piping hot showers!) but other than that, everything seemed fine.

Once the cleansing gels were applied to my face, I received a relaxing shoulder massage. The pressure was perfect. Oh, and the cleansing gels smelled heavenly. I’m totally smitten with Guinot!

A hydrating mask was applied (not recommended for the claustrophobic) to my entire face, including over my mouth. Only around my eyes were left bare. Whenever I have this done, I always tend to switch off completely. It was so relaxing! After that, Natalie applied a light moisturiser and a Dermalogica tinted moisturiser. Did I mention that I am a newly converted tinted moisturiser user?

Verdict

My face was virtually glowing as I exited the Day Spa – and remained that way for the next 5 days! My skin felt incredibly hydrated and soft. I received compliments wherever I went as to how good my skin looked and I discovered a newfound love for tinted moisturiser (which is now part of my daily makeup routine). This is a definite treatment for those who have dry skin and need an instant boost. Worth every scent!
