Just Skin Aesthetic Clinic: Aviva Airbrush Self Tan Review

I’m what some people like to refer to as a tanorexic. Spray-tanorexic to be exact!

I’d heard quite a lot about the Just Skin Aesthetic Clinic in Greenpoint, and seeing as though summer is around the corner, I decided to try it out. And wow. It’s the best spray tan I’ve ever had in my LIFE. (And yes, I’ve tried them all!)

After looking at my skin tone, Carol Maccallum, owner of the salon, recommended that I go for 8% (in terms of colour level). 8% is the most common colour that people choose when having this particular spray tan, however, the salon can also blend 10% and 12%, depending on the client’s skin colour. The aim was to make my tan seem as natural as possible without looking orange, but rather a golden tanned bronze.

I stripped down to a paper g-string, popped a towel around me and made my way to the room where Carol was going to bronze me. All fake tans, when sprayed on, are cold so I was expecting it! Thankfully it was a warm and sunny day in Cape Town. The whole process took 10-15 minutes (including drying) – I was so impressed!

The Results

Here are some pro’s that I would like to bring to your attention:

There was no stickiness or dampness once Carol had dried me. The tan had no typical spray tan odour (which was fantastic!). I slept comfortably that night (and not like a stiff hospital patient like I normally do when I have a spray tan). The results were so natural and I had no streaks! I literally looked like I had come back from Greece.

All in all, the tan lasted a solid week. It’s a shame we had such cold and rainy weather, I would have loved to have shown it off (properly)!

It’s my new go to place for a quick summer bronze.

Some Tanning Tips:

- Exfoliate your body thoroughly the night before.

- Wax / shave your legs the night before your spray tan.

- Don’t put any moisturiser on before you go for your spray tan.

- Bring loose fitting clothes (preferably black) and flip flops to change into once you've had your spray tan.

- Bring a pony tail, to tie up loose hair.

- Cancel all plans for that evening (ie. don’t go out / gym).

- For maximum results, sleep with the tan on and only shower the next morning.
