I am/was a healthy, active 46-year-old woman who was suddenly diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer (which had spread to my lymph nodes) in June this year. This blog is a truthful and sometimes scathing view of my cancer experience and may offend other cancer patients at times. It is for the STRONG!

Not sure when or if any of you (other than Mark T) will get to read this but how can I possibly begin this blog without mentioning U2 - hence the One More Sleep? I may no longer be a Reach for a Dream candidate but, hell, I still reckon SOMEONE should move mountains to get Bono to dedicate at least

Recently I spent the day having lunch at Tokara, enjoying the most magnificent view and eating a superb lunch created by master chef Richard Carstens. Richard has recently become the head chef at Tokara restaurant, situated on the Tokara wine farm, just outside Stellenbosch. Although this is a bit

Fish was the theme of our second session at Chef's Warehouse. Liam took us through selecting, scaling and filleting a specimen and, of course, cooking it to perfection. He paired oysters with Vietnamese dressing and Bloody Mary jelly and poached fillets of sole with sour grapes (unripened little

If Yoda is right and "There is no 'try', only 'do'", then I did not run the 10km Spar Women's Race this weekend. However, if running a race is placed on a continuum instead on a 'did' or 'didn't' scale, then I pretty much ran a race this weekend, I basically ran a race this weekend, I essentially

When the US awards season begins every year I eagerly wake up bright and early to see who was wearing what the night before. There are always highs, and sadly very low lows. All eyes should have been on Anne Hathaway as co-host, and they were, but on the red carpet it was for the wrong reasons. A

I try not to judge other parents. I know that most of the time, most of us are just doing the best we can. But what really makes me act like Captain Furious is when I see kids bouncing around in the back of a car without being strapped into a car seat. Why would a parent do that? What goes through

There's something I just have to know. Is everyone else having as much trouble as me getting my toddler and 4-year-old to remember to say please and thank you?
