Feeding my food obsessions in France...

Chinese food in Paris

As a fairly frequent visitor to Paris over the years (I have family living there) I have developed not only a love for French food, but have also been able to indulge my obsession with Chinese food - more specifically Dim Sum

Dim Sum consists of dumplings and small foods, either steamed or fried, and generally served as part of Yum Cha-Chinese brunch

There are shops - like our delis - that serve only varieties of Dim Sum, which you can eat either at a table or as a take away.  The most popular fillings are pork mince, prawns, scallops and chicken. The meat is wrapped in a wonton wrapper or rice pastry and then steamed or deep fried and served with a dipping sauce.

If you visit a restaurant for Dim Sum, there is a trolley that is wheeled around and you can pick and choose as many times as you want - which can add up to many courses! On my last trip, my brother and I leaned against the Dim Sum counter and indulged in prawn, scallop, and vegetarian spicy dim sums until we could eat no more.

Dim Sum aside, the rest of my meals consisted of French fare with breakfast generally being a 'Pain au Chocolat' or a chocolate croissant, and dinner being a home cooked French meal.

My other favourite cuisine is Lebanese food, and in Paris Lebanese restaurants and ingredients are in abundance, allowing me to once again indulge in an eating spree rivalled only by my brother's - his choices being limited by his vegetarian diet.

I can't wait for my next trip to indulge all my food obsessions once more...
