By teaming a fresh produce market with Game’s already extensive range of home wear, DIY and electronic goods, Game stores are sure to become a one-stop-shop for weekend chores and family outings alike.

Competition is good in any market, particularly the retail sector where there is a vast amount of space for markup abuse. Game has promised to keep costs low by cutting out middlemen wherever possible and using ecologically conservative lighting and refrigeration in store. The idea is then to pass that saving onto the consumer. Here here!

The pillars of the Foodco project are fresh, fast, easy and value. So long as there’s a follow through on quality, that sounds like a supermarket success story to me.

The first store is already up and running at N1 City Cape Town, with the second store due to launch at Canal Walk just a little further along the freeway.
