Joburg fashion week launches with a bang!

I jetted off for what has been labelled the party of the week held at Randlords in Joburg. Twenty two stories high -  looking over the city which will be the backdrop of Autumn/Winter 2011’s collections - designers, sponsors, media and celebs gathered to launch the must attend fashion week taking place from 15th to the 19th February 2011.

With the restructuring of the event, it is sure to be an exciting, fresh Fashion Week. Designers who attended the bash include David Tlale, Kluk CGDT, Suzaan Heyns, Stiaan Louw and new comer Lisp as well as designer of the moment getting a lot of overseas exposure, Gert-Johan Coetzee.

Also there, and starstruck by the more experienced designers, were fashion graduates who will show at Joburg Fashion Week during an entire day dedicated to the future generation design talent in partnership with Foschini.

AFI (African Fashion International) aim to make local designers accessible to the international market and are focusing on partnerships rather then sponsorships. Shows will take place at various iconic heritage sights throughout the city and promises to be an event worth attending.
