Bobby and I met in 2007 at a Christmas party, which I helped arrange for underprivileged children from our local community. There was a strange attraction at first and although we seemed very different, we obviously both realised the potential of this attraction becoming so much more…and it did, 3 and half years later we were married. Growing up I had day dreams of a romantic engagement. In reality it was far more planned. I suggested to him we get married! I had no idea what he was waiting for and concerned that it could take years if I left it up to him! He eagerly and excitedly agreed. It then took another 3 weeks for him to confront my Mom to discuss his intensions. Finally, a very relieved Bobby, with a smile from ear to ear, slipped my late Grandmother’s ring onto my finger. The planning, which my Mom started straight away, was overwhelming, yet exhilarating. We made the decision to do as much of the planning and décor ourselves and hand make as much as possible to retain a very natural and personal feeling in order to capture the real us. We planted desert roses all over the garden and collected pebbles, glass bottles, sticks, drift wood and anything we could use. Bobby got busy cutting out wooden hearts and building a gazebo out of latte. My Mom made all the over lays and raffia hearts for the chair backs and designed invites and table seating and menus. The hard work paid off and I could not have been more surprised and pleased with the result. I was so grateful for the hard work and effort family and friends had put in to make it all possible. It all felt so intimate and personal and I was so proud. The Wedding day was perfect, including the weather!. My Brother peddled me down the causeway on an old bicycle, with a seat at the back, while the song ‘At Last’ was being sung to my fiancé and guests. I walked down the aisle to ‘Annie’s song’, towards a red eyed fiancé, while trying to hold back my own tears. I had the most relaxed wedding day and we had so much fun. My husband and I danced to Bob Marley’s ‘Is the Love’…..and I knew then, that it certainly was.

Kim and Bobby's wedding could not have been more perfectly suited to them as a couple. The most perfect venue - on the watersedge of the Knysna lagoon on a gorgeous summers day, the decor - all natural and/or recycled materials which were used by the brides mother, the bride and the groom to create a relaxed and authentic ambience which showed their warmth as a couple and also their pleasure in being able to share this day with their Family and Friends. Since I have known Kimmi, which is 16 years now, I have known how much she was looking forward to her wedding day and I feel so privileged to have been a part of her special day and to see her looking so beautiful and happy in true Kimmi style. When she arrived on the bicycle I noticed many guests nodding their heads and smiling in recognition that this was the perfect Kimmi arrival to her wedding but when I saw her flip/flop wedding shoes that was confirmation enough for me. Wishing you and Bobby a lifetime of happiness and blessings my dear Friend...
