Wedding date: Thu, Dec 15th 2011
Venue: Kleinevalleij, Wellington - Western Cape
We met on the steps of Rozenhof res in Stellenbosch. I was sitting outside with my road bicycle on my way to a race when De Wet walked pass and spotted my Cannondale road bike. Being a cyclist himself also owning a Cannondale bike, he stopped and we started talking. We immediately clicked, started cycling together and ended up being best friend as students for 4 years. After studying I decided to take a gap year and went overseas. During the year I prayed one day: “Lord please let the man I am going to marry give me a bunch of white flowers so that I know that he is what You want for me and not my own will.” A year passed, back in SA, me and De Wet drove up to Jonkershoek valley one Sunday. We stopped and got out to see the magnificent view. He walked back to get something in the car; when he came back he had a massive bunch of white flowers! I knew there and then that this was the man I’m going to marry. I didn’t tell him anything about the flowers or my prayer until we got engaged a year later . Eight months later we got married at Kleinevalleij outside Wellington. It was a beautiful French affair with crystals, vintage flowers, gun metal grey and lilac purple colours. I wore the most beautiful Gelieft wedding dress with white flowers in between the many layers-all part of our story. It was so precious and special! De Wet still surprises me with bunches of white flowers!
