We meet on Facebook on the 28th September 2008, 9 days after my late dad had passed away. Matthew sent me a message on the “Are You Interested” application I replied that I was only looking for a friend as I recently lost my father, if he was willing to just be friends I would be fine with that. We communicated via email or sms sometimes sending up to 1000 sms in 3 days. I lived in Johannesburg and Matthew lived in Durban at the time. I had decided to go to Durban for a week and to meet my new friend Matthew. This was the first time we had heard each others voices as email and sms was the only way we communicated. We had the most stunning week together. After my short holiday we struggled without each other, finally we decided we couldn’t handle it any more and decided to find a job in Johannesburg for him. I smsed him every job that was going in the hospitality industry and after sending his CV he got a phone call for an interview in Johannesburg. An hour after the interview he got the call confirming he had the job. He went back to Durban to resign, worked his notice and on Wednesday 11th February 2009 after work he got in his car and drove to Johannesburg. On Friday the 13th February 2009 he had organised a stunningly romantic lunch with my sisters help and asked me to marry him and obviously said yes as I already knew that I couldn’t be without him. After months of planning and adding all my personal touches we got together with our closest friends and family and had the most spectacular wedding that surpassed all our expectations. Our fairytale wedding theme consisted of black silver and ivory with stars and fairy lights hanging from the ceiling. The theme was celestial for two reasons, number one Matthew and I always say that we will love each other till all the stars fall to the ground and the other reason is that when my dad passed away and my nephews asked where “Daddy-gramps” was and we tell them that he is now a star in the sky! Every single guest commented that our wedding was so full of love and they could see personal touches in everything, which meant the world to us.
