We met 5 years ago through mutual friends. For a couple of months Stewart tried to ask me out for dinner, however I kept on declining. After some time and countless offers, I finally said yes. And the rest is history. 4 years later we went up to Knysna to visit my family for Christmas.One morning I suggested that we go to Simola for breakfast as there was such a gorgeous view from there. After a lovely breakfast I began planning our day, rattling off places to visit, while Stewart was standing up gazing out of the window. The next thing I knew Stewart was on one knee in front of me asking me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was all a blur, I don’t know exactly what he said but through tears of joy I said yes! And so began the planning process. We decided we wanted to get married on December 16th 2011. We visited many wine farms in search of a venue that suited our style as well as our budget. We finally settled on Kleine Zalze Wine and Golf estate in Stellenbosch. The planning process was a very stressful one. I found dream wedding dress online and had it made overseas, when it arrived it was 2 full sizes too big. After searching high and low I found a dress maker who was able to take in my dress and fine tune all the little bits and pieces that were not 100% correct. Once my dress was ready we discovered a huge blue stain on the lining of the dress (very distressing), but with the quick thinking of my mother in-law to be and her sister we managed to get the stain almost completely out, 2 weeks before the wedding. Due to budget constraints we did a lot of things for the wedding ourselves. Stewart’s cousin assisted us with all the liaising with service providers and she did all the flower arrangements and decor. Stewart’s mother made the cupcakes and top tier and I made the cupcake holders from doilies. All of our stationery was designed by my dear friend Roxanne. We could not have been more blessed on our wedding day. It rained all week up until the 15th of December. Our wedding ceremony was outdoors and the entire day was absolutley everything we had ever dreamed of and more.
