Sharon and Keith's wedding

How did you meet?

I met Keith in November of 2003 at The Keg in Hillcrest. I was having drinks with some friends and one of them happened to have gone to school with Keith and introduced us.  And that’s how it all started.

How did he propose?

Keith, myself and another very good friend of mine Renee, (who was also my Matron of Honour) were at gym having some breakfast. Renee brought up the subject of marriage and convinced Keith that I did in fact want to get married, so he turned to me there and then and asked me to marry him...at the gym! We had been going out for 6 years at this point so it was probably about time!

How did you decide on your venue?

We wanted a venue that was small and personal with a welcoming atmosphere, and that was also close to home.

What was the style or theme?

Keith and I wanted our wedding to be relaxed, where our friends and family would be comfortable.  And we certainly achieved a relaxed atmosphere at Bella Vista.

The flowers

The flowers were orchids and carnations.  I chose these because they could be manipulated and twisted into bowls and because of the carnations’ plump frillyness. My bouquet was a ball of carnations with blue feathers and crystals. I really love orchids... they just seem so decadent.

Favourite moments / highlights

When I walked down the aisle and saw Keith and how he looked at me.  Also, seeing how a plain room was transformed into a glittering wonderland by my amazing and creative floral designer, Michele Priestman.

My advice to brides-to-be

Before  choosing your décor colour, chat to your floral designer to find out what flowers will be in season and go from there. Also, I would have had a second, shorter dress made for the reception... dancing in my wedding dress made me too damn hot!
