Foodie fun for Valentine's Day

If you are anything like me, Valentine’s Day sneaks up on you and the day before or even that morning you are wondering what on earth to do for your beloved! Well here are a few ideas to take the stress out and put the fun in, because that is what it is really all about – fun, love, and some good food!

As Valentine’s Day is right in the middle of one of our hottest months the great outdoors is a perfect backdrop for any event. So why not pack that picnic basket and head outside, or if you live in Cape Town, have a picnic basket ordered and packed for you.

Cravings Delicatessen in Sea Point offers a healthy and convenient picnic service and they’re even offering a 20% discount on all their picnics if ordered and collected on 14 February.
Their details are:
Address: Shop 3, 77 Regent Road, Sea Point

If you are staying in, I find nothing goes better with a cold glass of Pinot Grio than a platter of delicious anti-pasta items - it's also very quick and easy to assemble. For a delicious platter for two slice a cold melon, add Parma ham, bread sticks, roasted artichokes and a selection of dips and olives.

For an Asian-inspired Valentine meal, fill bamboo steamer baskets with Won Ton dumplings; add spring rolls and fortune cookies, and finish off with some mango sorbet.

Seafood (particularly shell fish such as prawns, scallops and mussels, and don’t forget fresh oysters) is very sexy and quick to prepare. It also pairs very well with sparkling wine.

Whatever you do have fun and make it delicious. I know I will!
