Decorate your tree with these gorgeous (and delicious) Christmas cookies.

Orange & cinnamon Christmas tree cookies

[Makes 24]

200g butter, at room temperature
100g sugar
300g flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp allspice
Pinch salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
¼ cup orange juice
Zest of half an orange

For the icing

300g icing sugar, sifted
¼ cup orange juice
Silver balls to decorate

1 Preheat oven to 180°C. Cream butter and sugar in a food processor. Sift together flour, baking
powder, cinnamon, allspice and salt and add to butter mixture.
2 With the motor running, add eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract. Slowly pour orange juice through the funnel of the processor until the dough comes together. You might not need to use all the liquid.
3 Once the dough has come together, shape into a smooth ball and wrap in clingfilm. Leave to rest in the fridge for 20 minutes.
4 Roll out dough on a floured surface until 3mm thick. Cut out Christmas trees and stars. Using a skewer, make a small hole through which to thread ribbon later.
5 Transfer to a lined baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer to a cooling rack.
6 Mix together icing sugar and orange juice until smooth.
7 Once cool, ice and decorate. Thread with strips of ribbon and hang on the tree.

Looks delicious! Just one problem..... we have a big problem with ants in our house! HOW do we keep them from eating all the cookies?

Fairlady

Try sprinkling talcum powder around the base of your tree - ants hate it!
