Thandiswa
Mazwai wants you

4 July 2012

Thandiswa Mazwai wants all female musicians to audition for her new all woman band.

Thandiswa Mazwai is a busy lady. Right now, she is about to embark on a tour with Paul Simon as the part of the Graceland 25th Anniversary Tour, which coincides with the release of the 25th Anniversary Edition of the famous album. The tour kicks off in Dublin, Ireland on 12 July and ends in Bergen, Norway on 26 July. Other South African artists participating in this project are Ladysmith Black  Mambazo, Ray Phiri, Barney Rachabane and Tony Cedras.

On her return to South Africa, she will then be giving local female aspiring musicians the opportunity to launch their careers. She is looking for the brightest and most talented women instrumentalists to audition for her new, all female band. According to her, this opportunity is based on the need to affirm and foreground talented female musicians in South Africa who face challenges in a predominantly male-run industry.
