Bloggirls Q & A

4 July 2012

We chat to Robynne, the lady behind Bobbylicious about her blog and the things she loves.

Bloggirls Q & A

Name: Robynne Saaiman

Blog: Bobbylicious

Who is Bobby?

My big brother calls me Bob. My friends call me Bobby and my boyfriend calls me Bobbylicious Girl. In between there I sometimes respond to Robynne. I adore cats, clothes, books and Freddie Mercury. I love adventures, laughing and my family.

How would you describe your blog and what inspired it?

My blog is a jumble of things I like, see, wear and do. I kept a journal all through my teens and my blog is an adult version of my journals. It’s also grown to become a place for me to develop my style and get over my “Nothing-To-Wear-A-Litus”. I was inspired to blog while surfing the net one day. I came across a blog and thought it looked like something fun to do.

Are there any local websites or blogs that you visit daily?

There are so many wonderful local blogs out there but a few I visit regularly are:

Glossary

Embracing Style

Diamonds and Dust

and Miss Molly

You love cats. Do you own any?

I have one naughty little critter called Sushi. She’s gorgeous but so full of nonsense. She has grown up with a German Shepherd as a best friend so I sometimes think that she believes she’s a dog.

What is your favourite thing to do in winter?

Besides curling up under piles of blankets and reading, I love to knit in winter. At the moment I'm only skilled enough to make snoods and scarfs (and even they take ages for me to finish). I’ve taken up crocheting this winter and am working on making a quilt. Check back with me in about seven years if I’ve completed it.

What is your favourite item in your wardrobe right now?

A denim shirt with elbow patches that I found in the Mr Price men's section. In fact, my boyfriend and I discovered together. He wanted it. I wanted it. I won. I’ve been looking for one for ages and not even the fact this was made for guys stopped me.

Do you believe in choosing style over comfort?

In my perfect world, everything would be comfortable. Alas, that isn’t the case. I try to be as stylish as I can when I leave the house but as soon as I come home I indulge in my love for pyjamas.

If money was not an issue what would you add to your wardrobe right now?

A black and white Chanel tweed jacket. Nothing could make you feel grander than wearing something as iconic and as wonderful as that.

When you are not blogging what do you do?

By day I’m a librarian. A dream job I never knew I dreamed about until doors fatefully opened up and made it possible for me. I can almost always be found with my nose in a book. I also dabble in lomographic photography, I love the unpredictability of taking pictures on film.

What do you think is the best kept secret in Cape Town?

I think Cape Town’s best kept secret can be found in my sleepy suburb of Fish Hoek. On the main road we have a gem of a bakery called Sweet Cillie’s Cakery.  Their red velvet cheesecake, New York style brownies and scrumptious cupcakes will put you in a sugar induced coma.
