Bloggirls Q&A

18 January 2012

The lady behind the blog, Koek! , talks goals and food with us.

Name: Robyn MacLarty

Blog: Koek!

Have you set any goals for the new year?
I want to waste less food, exercise more and work less. On a less depressing note, I plan to continue stealing my neighbours’ hydrangeas, not picking my washing up off the floor, and stealing sugar sachets from restaurants.

What is the one thing you could never cut out of your diet?
Food. Aha. Specifically? Butter. (Or anything yummy.)

What’s your go-to meal when you are pressed for time?
Pasta with Napoletana or pesto or scrambled eggs.

What is your specialty?
I don’t really have one as I’m always trying out new dishes. Does scrambled eggs count? No? Okay then, I make a killer herby roast chicken. I am also an exceptionally talented wine-pourer.

What are the essential ingredients for summer entertaining?
An unending supply of chilled wine or bubbly; fresh, tasty, unfussy food; a healthy sense of humour; and some sort of discussion about WHAT IT ALL MEANS, WHEN YOU GET RIGHT DOWN TO IT.

If you could recommend one kitchen purchase, what would it be?
Well, if you don’t have a good chef’s knife, that’s probably a good place to start. Oh and a stove. I hear those are quite handy.

Is there a chef you really admire and would love a one-on-one cooking session with?

My la-la-land fantasy that will never come true is to travel through Italy with Rose Grey and the late Ruth Rogers of The River Café, eating at all their favourite spots.

If the world was going to end in 2012, what one thing would you like to achieve before it does?

I’d like to achieve complete transcendence. That’d probably come in handy.
