Downton Abbey stars visit SA

FAIRLADY was so excited to meet the dainty and quiet kitchen maid Daisy Mason (Sophie McShera) and the fierce and unruly first footman Thomas Barrow (Rob James-Collier). We have watched two seasons of Downton Abbey and like many of you, have found ourselves completely absorbed in their lives.

We got to chat to the stars about their roles in the show. Rob who in real life is comical and quirky and the exact opposite of Thomas, receives a lot of backlash for his evil character. 'Thomas has had a hard life and he is misunderstood. He is how he is because of his sexuality. It was against God and you could go to jail for being a homosexual. It' s a big secret he can’t tell anyone and he has no one to confide in. That would take its toll on someone,' he says.

And watch out for a potential love interest for Thomas in season three. Rob suggests we may even feel some sympathy for Thomas.

So is there anything else to look forward to in season three? Yes! ' Daisy finds her inner bitch,' says Sophie. 'She goes on a strike and doesn’t speak. She has finally found some inner strength. She totally throws her tea towel down!' We can’t wait!

While in South Africa the two stars are heading to Cape Town to soak up the sights. Table Mountain, Camps Bay and Simonstown are just a few of their destinations. But what is Rob really excited to do while he is in our country? Shark cage diving! 'That is one off the bucket list for me,' says Rob.

Season three hits our screens next year with plenty of suprises including the star appearance of Shirley MacLaine playing Cora's mother.
