The beauty ladies remind us why they're the glamour girls of the team: 'My beauty favourites for this month are a toss-up between an eyebrow pencil and a hair mist. The Chanel Sculpting Eyebrow Pencil in 40, (R255), is the perfect shade for my light brown eyebrows. It's amazing how darker eyebrows can transform a brunette's face! It's now an important part of my make-up routine. Narciso Rodriguez For Her is my number one scent of all time and their hair mist is a firm favourite. Whenever I feel a bit down, I waltz into our beauty storeroom and give my hair a spritz. I instantly feel uplifted! And it's only R455.' - Kelli Clifton, beauty assistant 'Hi-liting your face and giving it a glow is a huge trend we are seeing in a lot of the international as well as local catwalk shows this season. To achieve gorgeously glowing skin I use the MAC Care Blends Essential Oil. One drop patted onto my cheekbones gives them definition and makes my skin look super healthy and plump. I love it!' - Catherine Zachariou, senior beauty assistant |

Both FAIRLADY editor, Suzy Brokensha and digital editor, Jen Searle were completely mesmerised by all the local jewellery and fashion at the recent Design Indaba Expo. 'I fell in love with a ring at Design Indaba – made by Adi Cloete at Fire Petal.' - Suzy 'I added so many items to my fashion wishlist, particularly from local brands Christopher Strong and I Love Leroy, but my real love was the necklace that I bought from a fairly new brand called A Bird Named Frank. I bought a necklace from them last year and a second one this year, their designs just get better with each collection.' - Jen |
Favourite food:

Test house editor, Sally Kramer has recently discovered quinoa (pronounced keen-wa). 'It's easy to cook, versatile, high in protein and filling.' |
Favourite books:
|
Senior editor, Julia Boltt rates Plenty by Yotam Ottolenghi as the best vegetarian book ever while Suzy loves to curl up with a great novel. 'I devoured Jennifer Egan’s novel, A Visit From The Goon Squad, in one sitting – absolutely brilliant, and completely original. One entire chapter is a powerpoint presentation, for example.' |
Favourite hang-out:
'My current (Cape Town) favourite is a little seafood deli and restaurant in the heart of the ‘burbs. Southern Cross Seafood Deli in Palmyra Junction, Claremont ticks all the boxes: delicious food (think squid and chorizo tapas – yum!), incredibly reasonable prices, and a fantastic deli selling the freshest fish for an absolute steal. I’ve had breakfast, lunch and dinner at this neighbourhood spot, and have bought an ocean’s-worth of angel fish from the deli, and have never been less than 100% impressed. (Top tip: when you pop in for a meal, have a squizz at their fridges, which are loaded with seafood soups and pasta sauces which are perfect freezer standbys.).' - Elizabeth Atmore, health editor
Favourite movie:
'I thought The Descendants was a really brilliant movie – made from a book I had read and loved, so I was predisposed to hate it.' - Suzy
Favourite song:
Julia says that she is listening to Joe Goddard (featuring Valentina) 'Gabriel' on repeat. Have a listen and tell us what you think.
