Our Christmas wishlist

14 December 2012

Here's what we at FAIRLADY and you, our readers, would love for Christmas.

At the FAIRLADY office, there has been continuous chatter over the last few weeks about what we would like for Christmas. Many of our wishes are just pipedreams, but some we hope our significant others will see!

'Sigh, it's a bit predictable...I hope Santa brings me an iPad.'  - Robyn MacLarty, Senior sub-editor and Writer

'Unrealistic wishlist: A plane ticket to Ibiza or Italy (a girl can dream!). Realistic wishlist: A new foundation brush, a bottle of L.I.L.Y by Stella McCartney, a Jinger Jack genuine leather sling-bag or a giant My Little Pony stuffed toy (seriously).' – Kelli Clifton, Assistant Beauty Editor

'Sorbet vouchers, Pink’s new CD, Turkish Delight and a fridge full of Magnums (Biscotti and Death by Chocolate flavours).' - Crystal Matthews, Managing Editor

'I have a whole lot of serious ones and one frivolous, totally ridiculous one – which means, of course, it’s bound to happen, especially since I don’t even play: to win about R5m in the Lotto...' – Sameena  Amien, Chief Sub-editor

'At first I didn't really want anything for Christmas as essentially I have everything I could ever want in my life, which is a pretty awesome feeling. But when I was told it could be anything, no matter how silly or what the budget was I got thinking. So what I'd really like for Christmas, on a purely selfish level, is anything by Chloe, from their handbags to shoes, a ticket to go and see No Doubt perform anywhere in the world, and any other pair of shoes from Stella McCartney, Miu Miu or Alexander Wang. Phew!' – Catherine Zachariou, Junior Fashion and Beauty Editor

'My Christmas wishlist is a treasure chest filled with fairy dust. And by sprinkling some in the air I could make a wish and it would come true. I then could have a lazy holiday. NO cooking! NO sitting in traffic! Puff... and I could make those irritating visitors disappear!' - Liezel Dukes, Editor’s PA

'As much as I love Christmas, the reason for my love of this special day has less to do with presents and more to do with decorating my house, inviting family around, indulging in delicious food and toasting with bubbles. However, I LOVE buying presents for those around me and I usually start planning their gifts quite early. While doing this I add quite a few items to my wishlist that I want to buy for myself. (I’m terrible with presents, I always feel uncomfortable when someone buys me a present so I tend to buy them for myself!) For this reason, I think Rock & Herr’s idea of a Christmas Hint List is fantastic. You can choose one of their beautiful bags you like, add it to your hint list and then email it to your loved ones so that they can start saving up to spoil you!

Other local designers whose items I have added to my Christmas wishlist include Black Betty – a ring or pair of earrings from this fabulous brand would fabulous. Or a tie-dye maxi dress from Pintuck would also be super – can just see myself living in one this summer!

And I have to add, if my present was wrapped in Soet Stationary I would be ecstatic, although their paper is so pretty I definitely wouldn’t want to rip it open!' – Jennifer Searle, Digital Editor
