Not ever campaign highlights rape

15 February 2011

“Short skirts don't cause rape. Rapists cause rape”

Nobody asks to be raped. Not ever.

That's the message from Scottish organisation, notever.co.uk.

The campaign seeks to destroy the myth that women incite sexual violence by the way we dress, drink or even react in intimate situations.

"A kiss is not a contract and the sexual autonomy to which we are all entitled means that women have the right to say no at any time – and to receive justice if that no is not respected," reads the website.

According to www.rape.co.za a South African woman has a greater chance of being raped than learning to read.

The organisation also came up with a short but powerful advert which has been doing the rounds on the internet. Watch it below:

This is brilliant! To think people (read: some men and women)actually believe certain people (read: certain men and women) deserve to be raped because they are: gay, dressed provocatively, drunk, friendly, flirty or present. Pity there's no cure for stupidity!
