Lula Fabrics heads to Johannesburg

4 July 2012

Cape Town's fabric favourites are setting up shop in Johannesburg.

Ottomans covered in rustic shades of aqua, plush chairs with ornate filigree detail, salmon coloured pillows with unique prints and even leopard print pumps are some of the exciting products that Joburg ladies can now look forward to with the opening of Lula Fabric’s newest showroom.  Conveniently located near the Sandton CBD and the M1 motorway, this thriving business not only showcases beautiful and easy to style designs, but also caters to a variety of clientele countrywide from businesses and hotels to restaurants and homes.

“This showroom is a key component in further developing our service to designers and decorators looking for fresh, bold and colourful statements. It is also a stepping stone into new African markets given Johannesburg’s position as a continental business centre,” said Melissa Kerkhoff, creative designer and founder of Lula Fabrics.

Their latest collection, The Silk Road, was inspired by the route from China to Russia of the same name. 19th century traders would face harsh weather conditions and many miles of travel to deliver delicate textiles, and although the two countries are polar opposite in culture and design, their influences can clearly be seen in the Lula Fabric’s latest range.  Filigree and Timur prints in shades of pink, chartreuse, charcoal and sage combine beautifully and can be used as a statement piece to pop against a neutral room or even paired together, for those who aren’t afraid of mixing patterns.

For those who do not share a love of oriental inspired décor, Lula Fabric’s previous collection, Spring, offers charming and delicate floral prints paired with bold pink and aqua stripes. All of these designs are available on chairs, cushions, ottomans, pumps, aprons, cosmetic bags and handbags.

Lula Fabric’s showroom can be found at:

First floor, 3 Kramer Road, Kramerville. Open Mondays to Fridays from 8:30am to 5pm, Saturdays 8:30am to 1pm.
